As disturbing visuals show students falling off the building at Takshashila Complex where a fire took multiple lives on Friday, 24 May, acts of bravery shown by many onlookers is now winning over the internet. One such individual has been identified as Ketan Jorawadia.

Jorawadia saved the lives of at least two students who were reportedly trapped inside the building. In a picture that has gone viral, Jorawadia can be seen standing beside fire engines in a shirt covered in blood stains as he looks on towards what could be the building where the fire broke out.

“There was smoke, I did not know what to do. I took the ladder, first helped the children get out of the place, managed to save 8-10 people. Later, I managed to rescue two more students. Fire brigade came after 40-45 minutes.”

Twitterati hailed Ketan Jorawadi as a hero as his photo was shared widely.

While Ketan Jorawadi’s heroics have gone viral, onlookers said he wasn’t the only one trying to help those stranded in the fire. Many others also helped save lives by rescuing students who fell off the building.
