States to Compensate Victims of Cow Vigilantism: Supreme Court

  • The Supreme Court, on 22 September, asked for compliance reports from states on the issue of cow vigilantism, reported ANI. The next hearing will take place on 31 October.
  • The apex court said all states are under an obligation to compensate victims of violence in the name of cow vigilantism, reported ANI.
  • Gujarat, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh filed their compliance reports on 22 September. The Supreme Court has requested other states to file their reports at the earliest.
