  • The Supreme Court on Monday summoned retired judge Markandey Katju for his blog criticising the verdict in the Soumya rape and murder case.
  • Katju had called the verdict a "grave error" and not expected of "judges who had been in the legal world for decades."
  • The Bench comprising Justices Ranjan Gogoi, PC Pant and UU Lalit had commuted the death penalty of sole convict in the case, Govindaswamy, citing lack of evidence.
