Asaram Bapu Denied Bail; Fined Rs 1 Lakh For Filing Forged Letters

• The Supreme Court, on Monday, denied bail to self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, who has been accused in sexual assault cases. He sought bail from the apex court on health grounds.
• The SC, while refusing to modify its earlier order that had declined him interim bail, said that the instant plea is devoid of merit and hence, dismissed.
• It also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on Asaram for filing forged letters of Jodhpur Jail Superintendent on his health condition in the court, say media reports.
