Gaanam Nair aka Jikki Padhoo, who had been missing since 26 May, has returned home to Virugambakkam.

For the last three days, social media has been flooded with posts about Gaanam Nair, a 28-year-old from Chennai. A missing person case had been registered with the KK Nagar police.

The police said Gaanam lives with her aunt and cousins in Chennai. On Friday morning, she had left home on her black Activa, saying she was going to her workplace, in Nungambakkam.

On her social media profiles, Gaanam claims to be a photographer and a model. Relatives told The News Minute that she was a marketing manager at a salon. “She was supposed to go to office but we have learnt that she didn’t take the usual route. We are in the process of examining CCTV footage for further clues,” an investigating officer told TNM.

The police are probing to see if Gaanam’s disappearance had anything to do with a family discord. Priyanka, Gaanam’s 19-year-old cousin said:

There were no problems at home. She has been with us from when she 10 years old. She works in a salon in Nungambakkam as the marketing manager now. She always left the house at 11 am.

Gaanam's friends and relatives had extensively used social media to express their angst and worry.

If it was an accident, we would have known by now. We have called multiple hospitals and even visited some of them. We have no clue where she is.
