Eleven people were killed on 15 August in Shivpuri's Sultan Garh Waterfalls in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh after water level rose sharply because of a sudden release of water from a nearby dam. 45 people have been rescued, police said.
The water level rose because of a flash flood, officials said. The waterfalls are a popular picnic spot in Shivpuri.
The State Disaster Relief Force is coordinating the rescue at the moment, police said.
Police added that the Air Force and Army will join the rescue operation early 16 August, at the break of dawn.
MP CM Shivraj Chouhan said that he was in touch with rescue teams, and that life jackets had been delivered to those stranded.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh as well as Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman were briefed on the situation and have assured Chouhan all the assistance possible.
