The defence lawyers of the three accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, Indrani Mukerjea, Peter Khanna and Sanjeev Khanna, have received the statement of the prime witness in the case and Indrani’s driver Shyamwar Rai. The Bombay High Court had directed the CBI on Thursday to furnish the statement.
The 17-page Hindi statement brings to light shocking revelations about the night of the murder. While Indrani Mukerjea and Sanjeev Khanna feature in the description of the gruesome night, Peter Mukerjea remains absent from the confession.
Rai then details how he disposed the body the next day, burning it in a forest in Raigad.
In August 2015, Shyamwar Rai was first arrested for being in possession of an illegal weapon, which led to the revelation about Sheena’s murder. In his statement, Rai says that after all was done, he was given a parcel by Indrani’s secretary and his standing orders were to take three months’ salary and leave the place.
When he reached home and opened the parcel, he found the katta (weapon) for which he was arrested.
Peter Mukerjea’s lawyer, Mihir Gheewala, confirmed there were no allegations against his client in Rai’s statement.
Peter and Khanna are jailed in the Central Prison on Arthur Road, while Indrani is jailed in Byculla’s women’s jail. They were arrested last year for Sheena’s murder, which may be linked to certain dubious financial dealings.
