Separatists Ask for ‘School Safety Day’ in Kashmir, Extend Strike
Separatists have asked students and parents to march towards schools on 7 Nov and organise “school safety day.”
Despite unrest in Kashmir showing signs of fatigue, the separatist camp has extended the strike till 10 November. They have also asked people to take "necessary measures" to thwart the burning of educational institutions.
The camp, which is spearheading the 117-day long ongoing unrest in the Valley, asked students, parents, elders of the society, masjid and other committees to march towards schools in their respective localities on 7 November and organise "school safety day" from 11am to 4 pm.
Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik released a statement which said,
Over twenty-five educational institutions have been burnt by in the Valley since 9 July, after Burhan Wani was killed in an encounter in South Kashmir.
The separatists have called for a "complete shutdown" till 10 November and have asked people to resume their normal activities during relaxation period from 4 pm to 7 am on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
