The Supreme Court on Monday quashed criminal proceedings against Indian T20 captain, MS Dhoni for allegedly ‘offending sentiments’ after being portrayed as Lord Vishnu on a magazine cover.
In January 2016, Dhoni was issued a non-bailable warrant by the Anantpur Court. The warrant came three years after the cover was published.
The Supreme Court had stayed the criminal proceedings pending before an Andhra Pradesh court against Dhoni and issued a notice to complainant Yerraguntla Shyam Sundar, who had asked for invocation of penal charges against Dhoni for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
