A Sharjah-based company that fired one of its employees for abusing journalist Rana Ayyub online recently contacted her to apologise for their ex-staffer’s behaviour.

The company, National Paints, also reportedly plans to file a suit against the ex-employee, Bincylal Balachandran, for outraging a woman’s modesty.

Thirty-one-year-old ‘Bincy Lal’, hailing from Kerala, was working in Dubai for Alpha Paint, a sister company of National Paints in Sharjah, since 2015, according to local UAE news outlet, Gulf News.

Ayyub posted the obscene comments sent to her via Facebook on Twitter, to name and shame Balachandran.

“We verified the accuracy of the information and checked on the name of the man. On 8 April, at 8 am, the termination order of (Balachandran) was issued,” Gulf News quoted Shadi Al Refai, the Human Resource Manager of the company as saying.

Ayyub also posted on Twitter that Balachandran’s visa has been revoked and that he would be deported back to India.

After the news of this incident broke, Bincy deleted his Facebook profile. He has previously also posted abusive comments directed at Maria Sharapova and Mehr Tarar.
