Nalini Sriharan was granted a 30-day parole by the Madras High Court on 5 July. Sriharan is one of the seven convicts of the Rajiv Gandhi Assassination case and has been in prison for over 27 years now.

In April 2019, Sriharan had approached the Madras High Court to file a leave application for six months to make arrangements for her daughter’s wedding.
