Demonetisation Only Looted People: Rahul in Karjan

Attacking Amit Shah's son Jay once again, the Congress vice president asked how “Rs 50,000 turned into Rs 80 crores within a few months”.

Why is PM Modi silent when there has been a theft? It seems now it is Amit Shah ke bete ko bacchao.

He attacked the Modi government's demonetisation drive saying it “looted” people and has only benefited 10-15 industrialists.

"Don't Believe in Suppression of Any Kind," Says Rahul

In an interactive session with students in Vadodara, the Congress vice president said that the Modi government has made “profit the focus of educational institutions”.

If you run educational institutions for profit, then it will only benefit the owners and not students. The reason why IITs are successful is because they are not run for profits... The Gujarat government has a poor record of women’s enrollment in higher education... Congress will bring back the focus on education and knowledge.

During the session, Rahul responded to a query on the safety of journalists saying: “The Congress and I believe that you have a right to criticise anyone.”

It is a fundamental right to criticise whoever one wants to. I don’t believe in suppression of any kind.

He went on to criticise BJP’s stance on women and asked why the RSS does not have a single woman member. “What did they do to deserve exclusion?” he asked.

The BJP’s thinking is that till women are silent they are good, when they start speaking up they try to shut them up... How many women are there in the RSS... Have you ever seen any woman in shakhas wearing shorts?

Rahul again lashed out at Amit Shah’s son Jay, saying he is the “icon of Startup India”.

But the chowkidaar of India is quiet, he does not like to comment on these things.

Rahul Gandhi Interacts with Traders in Vadodara

Here are highlights of Rahul Gandhi’s address:

This is a flawed GST, it’s not really GST. GST is supposed to be a single tax, not multiple tax slabs.
Excuses won’t work. If in 5-10 years India doesn’t employ 30,000-40,000 daily, then no one will be able to control the anger that’ll spread.
You want to make India cashless, then make policy changes. But forcibly making India cashless will only hurt indians. A leader’s job is to look 5-10 years ahead, and not implement things forcibly that will make people cry.
Vajpayee had said Rajiv Gandhi is insane when India started opening up to technology and computers. But his timing was right. You need a vision.
Our system is designed to kill innovation. That is what the people are frustrated about.
My father was murdered by Tamil Tiger Prabhakaran. But the day I saw his dead body, I felt saddened. I called my sister and told her how strange this was. She said she felt it too. It’s because we understand anger, pain. We can’t be angry with people. That is just how we are.
BJP has helped me. In 2014, when we lost the general election, it was best thing to have happened to me. The subsequent criticism, bashing and all the attacks have opened my eyes. I have to thank the BJP for this.

How Did Jay Shah End up With Rs 80 Crore, Asks Rahul

Following reports of BJP national chief Amit Shah’s son allegedly earning major profits for his firm, Rahul Gandhi took a dig at PM Modi saying his initiatives ‘Startup India’ and ‘Make in India’ have only benefited “one individual”.

What kind of a startup company is this? He (Jay) started with Rs 50,000 and now has Rs 80 crore. It seems ‘Make in India’ and ‘Startup India’ was only for one person... Modi had said he did not want to be the PM, but a chowkidaar (guard) of this country. Where is this chowkidaar?

He added that the Congress will listen to people’s ‘mann ki baat’.

Hum apko apne mann ki baat nahi batayenge, hum apki mann ki baat sunenge.

PM's Focus Only on 10-15 Industrialists, Says Rahul

Rahul Gandhi, in his address in Kheda, stressed on creating more employment for the youth in the country.

Whatever you buy in the market is ‘Made in China’. Around 50,000 people get employed in China on a daily basis, but in India only 450 are hired. Why is this happening? Where will the jobs come from? Those 10-15 industrialists will not provide employment, but small and medium companies will help.
Farmers are committing suicide in the country, but our PM is helping only handful of industrialists. If the government erases debts of farmers and small businessmen, then only they will benefit and progress.

Rahul's Three-Day Yuva Rojgar Khedut Adhikaar Yatra

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi will visit Gujarat on a three-day tour starting 9 October to take part in the Yuva Rojgar Khedut Adhikaar Navsarjan Yatra. This is the second phase of the proposed four-phase Navsarjan Gujarat Yatra to cover all regions of the state prior to the assembly elections scheduled later this year.

During the visit, the Congress scion will cover several districts in central region including Ahmedabad, Kheda, Anand, Vadodara, Chhota Udaipur, Dahod and Panchmahal, by bus.

Gandhi’s tour comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his two-day visit to the state, where he kickstarted the poll campaign.

Gandhi's Earlier Visit to Gujarat

On 27 September, Gandhi wrapped up his three-day Navsarjan Yatra in Gujarat’s Saurashtra region. The region has been electorally tough for the Congress for the last two decades, and it won only 12 of the 52 seats here in the 2012 Assembly elections.

During his three-day campaign, Rahul lashed out at the BJP-led state government for running the administration by a “remote control”. He further censured Prime Minister Narendra Modi government’s GST regime, saying he would pressurise it to simplify the norms.

During his visit, he interacted with elected panchayat representatives at Vadtra village in Dwarka district, and farmers, fishermen and traders in both Dwarka and Jamnagar.
