Congress President Rahul Gandhi, on Monday 28 January, slammed Union Minister Ananth Kumar Hegde over his controversial remarks that had sparked a row on Twitter.

Calling Hegde “an embarassment to every Indian,” Rahul tweeted, “He's unfit to be a Union Minister and deserves to be sacked.”

Hedge, who is a repeat offender, had said that Karnataka Congress chief Dinesh Gundu Rao’s only achievement was “running behind a Muslim lady.” His reaction had come after Rao condemned him for saying, “The hand that touches a Hindu woman must not exist.”

Many others took to Twitter to condemn the Union Minister for his regressive and “shameful” comments.
