A 13-year-old girl was raped and later burnt alive allegedly by her neighbour in Sherpur area. The accused Sunil is absconding.
The victim recorded her statement before the magistrate while she was being treated at the hospital. Three person have been taken into custody in this regard. Efforts are on to nab Sunil.

A 40-year-old VHP leader was shot dead on Thursday, by unidentified assailants in Agra.
Arun Mahaur, vice president of the city unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), was on his way to a nearby temple when the accused fired at him.
Meanwhile, hundreds of activists of various Hindutva groups gathered at the hospital, shouted slogans and tried to block traffic.
The markets in the Nai ki Mandi area have been closed as a precautionary measure.

Goa police registered a case against a senior woman government official for allegedly giving false information to authorities concerned to obtain a piece of land in Sancoale village of south Goa, a PTI report said.
Sheru Shirodkar, a Deputy Collector posted in south Goa, was booked by Margao Police. Judicial Magistrate First Class in Margao town had ordered the local police to register an FIR against Shirodkar, based on the complaint filed by one John Philip Pereira.
In his complaint, Pereira had alleged that Shirodkar had given false information in an affidavit submitted to the Administrator of Communidade, south zone in Margao. The complainant said that with the intention of obtaining a residential plot of land Shirodkar had falsely stated in the affidavit that she was landless.
Three members of a family were allegedly poisoned by their domestic help at their residence in suburban Khar. The victims, identified as Dharmesh Thakkar, a local journalist, his wife Garima and son Akshyae, are recuperating at Hinduja Hospital.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night and the police suspect robbery as the motive. The domestic help, who is absconding, could not be immediately identified as the family is still under treatment and their statement is yet to be recorded.

A lady Police Constable was physically assaulted and abused by a car driver when she asked him to stop talking on his cellphone while driving, a PTI report said.
The policewoman spotted the 44-year-old talking on phone while driving near a flyover, a short distance from Traffic Police HQ. When the policewoman asked for driving licence and relevant documents, the accused started abusing her and then slapped and punched her on nose.
The SUV driver has been booked under IPC Sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his/her duty) and 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty).

A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth while she was on her way back home from work in the Muzaffarnagar district.
According to the complaint filed by the girl’s father, the incident took place on Wednesday evening when the accused, Khushnasib, kidnapped the victim and took her to a nearby field and raped her.
A case has been registered against him under IPC sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) and POCSO Act, he said. The accused has been arrested.

A police constable was arrested, on Thursday, for allegedly molesting three college students in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, a PTI report said.
The accused, however, refuted the charge. He said that he was merely telling the girls to return to their homes safely. A case has been registered under relevant sections of IPC and further investigation is on.
A seven-year-old boy died after being hit by a school bus on Ghatkopar-Andheri link road in Mumbai. The victim, identified as Ashok Murugan, died on the spot when the bus hit him at around 1.30 pm on Thursday.
According to the police, the victim was crossing the road along with his brother Suresh (12) and sister Laxmi (10) when the incident took place. His siblings sustained injuries in the accident and were admitted to Rajawadi hospital in Ghatkopar.
The bus driver, identified as Jallaluddin Sheikh (25), was arrested for rash and negligent driving.
