Pulsar Suni, the prime accused in the abduction and alleged molestation of a prominent Malayalam actor, was arrested on Thursday as he tried to surrender to the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Ernakulam. Another accused in the case, Vijeesh, also surrendered to the ACJM.

The two have been sent to 14 days judicial custody.

According to television reports, Pulsar Suni rushed into the Magistrate’s court and declared that he was surrendering. But the Magistrate was not in his chamber, and therefore the police arrested him. They immediately took both Suni and Vijeesh away in a car.

Accused to Be Handed to Nedumbassery Police

On Friday, the ACJM court asked the police to hand over Suni and Vijeesh to the Nedumbassery police, under whose jurisdiction the case was registered.

The order comes in the wake of the accused’s advocate Krishnakumar filing a petition in the court stating that the accused were arrested by the Central police when the duo had arrived at the court to surrender before the magistrate.

Suni was also taken to different locations for evidence collection on Friday.

The accused came to the court on Thursday afternoon, six days after the incident took place. A police team, headed by senior officers was unable to trace Suni after he was named by the actor herself in her FIR.

Suni and two others – Manikandan and Vijeesh – were absconding since Saturday. While Manikandan was arrested on Tuesday, the other two accused were missing until Thursday.

Pulsar Suni had also applied for anticipatory bail and claimed in the application that he had been implicated in the case. The Kerala High Court had deferred his anticipatory bail plea to 3 March.

The arrest at the spot of surrender comes as a huge embarrassment to the police who have been hunting him since Friday night, but were unable to catch him.
