India’s Environment Pollution Control Authority on Tuesday, 30 October, said private vehicles might have to be stopped from plying in New Delhi if air pollution continues to worsen.
The Environment Pollution Control Authority chairman, Bhure Lal said:
Air quality in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Tuesday deteriorated further after an overnight spike in Particulate Matter (PM). The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) at around 3pm on Tuesday, 30 October was 401, falling in the 'severe' category, the highest this season.
17 areas of the national capital fell under the 'severe' category on Tuesday, according to official data.
