Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded Sharad Pawar’s NCP and Naveen Patnaik’s BJD for “never entering” the Well of House to protest during the winter session of the Parliament that started on Monday, 18 November.

The PM’s comment assumes significance amid the ongoing power tussle over government formation in Maharashtra where NCP has emerged as a kingmaker.

NCP Chief Sharad Pawar and Congress President Sonia Gandhi are scheduled to meet later on Monday.

Addressing the Rajya Sabha in the 250th session on Monday, 18 November, he said that them not entering the well has “not affected their politics.”

“Yet they have made their points effectively. Much can be learnt from this, people’s hearts can be won even without rushing to the Well,” he said.

PM Modi said that parties, including his BJP, has to learn from the NCP and BJD in this regard.

The prime minister also talked about checks and balances in his address. “This is absolutely essential, here is also a difference between checking and clogging,” he said.
