Prime Minister Narendra Modi was at the Himalayan Kedarnath shrine today, for the launch of 5 projects.

The PM announced the launch of the projects, including the laying of the foundation stone for the Kedarpuri Reconstruction Project, the construction of a museum, and the distribution of electricity to over 4 crore families.

The usually deserted Shiva shrine was packed with around 4,000 people for the Prime Minister’s address.

The PM also said that increasing tourism to Kedarnath, through improved infrastructure, would be vital. He also added that the Kedarnath shrine would be a model for pilgrimage sites everywhere.

However, Modi also took the chance to take a dig at the UPA Government, stating that his offer to help during the 2013 floods, as the Gujarat CM, was met with panic from the Centre.
