PIL Seeking Mandatory Two-Child Policy Rejected by Supreme Court
The petition stated that government should promote family planning.
The Supreme Court of India on Friday, 9 March, rejected a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) which sought the making of two-child policy mandatory across the country.
News agency ANI reported that the apex court dismissed the petition after hearing one of the petitioners, Prathviraj Chauhan, in regards to the same.
The PIL was filed in Supreme Court on 12 February, seeking direction to the Centre to implement the 'two-child policy' for population control.
The petition stated that the government should promote family planning and adopt all such measures to motivate the people of the country to follow two-child policy, the ANI report added.
