Ten Drown During Durga Idol Immersion in Rajasthan’s Dholpur

A total of 10 people drowned during Durga idol immersion in Parbati river in Dholpur on Tuesday, 8 October.The authorities have recovered seven bodies so far.

“Search operations have been halted for the night and we will resume our search on Wednesday,” said Dholpur District collector Rakesh Jaiswal, reported ANI.

Jaiswal further informed that Rs 1 lakh financial assistance from Chief Minister Relief Fund will be provided to the families.

A police personnel who was present at the spot said, “During the immersion, one of the boys jumped into the river to bath but he started drowning. The others jumped in the river in a bid to save him but they also drowned.”

A State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and a local team were called in for assistance by the district administration.

In another incident, six people drowned in Chambal river in Dihaulo but only three bodies have been recovered, reported The Times of India.
