Pakistan Extends Ban on Airspace near Indian Border Till 14 June
A top official had earlier said that Pakistan was waiting for the 2019 poll results to review the closure.
Continuing its month-long stand-off, Pakistan on Wednesday, 29 May announced that it has extended the ban on the use of its airspace near the Indian border.
Speaking to the news agency, Reuters, an official of Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that the closure will continue until 14 June without giving further details.
The ban was put in place on 26 February – the day when Indian Air Force struck the Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist camp in Balakot.
Since then, many airlines including Air India are incurring heavy losses, as flights flying in and out of India around the north-western frontier are forced to take a longer route.
Earlier, in March, a top official had told PTI that Pakistan's airspace will remain closed for the Indian flights till 30 May as it was awaiting the 2019 Lok Sabha polls’ outcome.
