Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and BJP MLA from Uttar Pradesh Vikram Saini have been mentioned in Pakistan’s letter to the United Nations. In it, Pakistan claims there have been massive human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370.
Under the section "gender-based violence as a weapon of war", the letter mentions what Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar said on 10 August, that with Kashmir now ‘open’, "brides will be brought from there to here".
He had later claimed the statement was a ‘joke’.
Along similar lines, the paper also cited MLA Vikram Saini’s comments about Kashmiri women.
According to Union Minister Prakash Javadekar, Pakistan’s letter states that acts of violence in the Valley have been acknowledged by mainstream political leaders like Rahul Gandhi, reported NDTV.
The senior Congress leader faced a lot of flak from BJP as his comments on Kashmir were being used apparently being used against the nation.
Mr Javedkar has also demanded an apology from Mr Gandhi and the Congress, according to NDTV.
Clarifying his stance on this entire matter, Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter to reaffirm that he strongly believes that Kashmir is India’s internal issue and that there is no room for Pakistan’s interference.
