Chaos gripped the state of Jammu and Kashmir after the deployment of thousands of extra troops to the Valley and the state government's advisory to Amarnath pilgrims and other tourists to curtail their visit due to security concerns. There are rumours of a possible abrogation of Article 35A of the Constitution.

There is no clarity or official announcement from the lawmakers about what is going on. Both tourists and residents of Kashmir are in a state of panic.

Amidst the highly tense situation, Twitter users took to the micro-blogging site with messages of solidarity and assured them that the rest of the country is with them. Kashmiri users too tweeted that their homes are open to any tourist in need.

Kashmiris offered to open their doors to tourists and non-Kashmiris, and tweeted their contact information.

President of J&K People’s Movement Party lauded this gesture. “Govt is creating panic but people are trying their best to reach out. I appeal people of Kashmir to keep up the spirit and give all assistance to tourists, Yatris and non-Kashmiri labour. We shall overcome,” he tweeted.
