The global death toll due to coronavirus has crossed 1,00,000, AFP reported. As per the Johns Hopkins tracker, the total number of deaths reported across the globe is 1,00, 376.

India on Friday, 10 April reported 896 cases in 24 hours, the sharpest one day increase, raising the total number of COVID-19 cases to 6,761, with the death toll standing at 206. According to the latest health ministry data, there are 6,039 active cases and as many as 516 patients have been cured or discharged.

Punjab on Friday, became the second state after Odisha, to extend the ongoing 21-day nationwide lockdown by another fortnight till 1 May, reported ANI.

Earlier, Assam recorded its first COVID-19 death as a patient at Silchar Medical College Hospital passed away, PTI reported, quoting CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.

US Reports 1,783 COVID-19 Deaths: Johns Hopkins Tracker

US on Friday, 10 April, recorded 1,783 deaths due to the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, AFP reported quoting Johns Hopkins tracker.

Assam Records Its First COVID-19 Death

Assam recorded its first COVID-19 death as a patient at Silchar Medical College Hospital passed away, PTI reported, quoting CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.

21 More Test Positive in Gujarat's Vadodara

21 more persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Gujarat’s Vadodara, of which 20 people are from Nagarvada area. The total number of positive coronavirus cases in Vadodara stands at 39 now, according to ANI.

Maharashtra to Lock Down 5 Prisons in Mumbai, Pune

Maharashtra Home Department has issued orders for the complete lockdown of 5 prisons in the Mumbai and Pune regions till further orders, ANI reports. These are Mumbai Central Prison, Thane Prison, Yerawada Prison, Byculla Prison and Kalyan Prison.

Five New Cases Reported in Dharavi

Five more people, two of them attendees of the Nizamuddin Markaz event in Delhi, test positive for COVID-19 in Mumbai's Dharavi, PTI reported, quoting the BMC. The total number of cases in the area is now 22.

Three new cases were also reported from Mumbai's Dadar area, including 2 nurses of Shushrusha Hospital and a man from Kelkar Road. The total number of cases in Dadar stands at 6 now.

26 New Cases Reported in Rajasthan

26 more cases of COVID-19 were reported in Rajasthan on Friday, taking the total number of coronavirus cases in the state to 489, ANI reported.

25 of the new positive cases have contact history, while details of 1 case are being ascertained, according to the Rajasthan’s health department.

Total Cases in Andhra Pradesh Climb to 365

With two new cases in Ananthapur, the total number of COVID-19 cases registered in Andhra Pradesh have increased to 365, including 349 active cases, 10 discharged and 6 deceased.

46 New Cases in Gujarat, Tally up to 308

Forty-six new cases of COVID-19 were found in Gujarat, taking the tally up to 308, reports PTI, quoting officials. The death toll in the state has climbed to 19.

Indigo Flights to Fly at 50% Capacity Post Lockdown

Seventy more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Gujarat on Friday, raising the total number of cases in the state to 378, including 33 discharge and 19 discharges, reported ANI, quoting the state health department.

Hundred and eighty three more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Delhi, raising the total number of cases in the capital to 903. 154 of the latests cases are liked to the Tablighi events in Nizamuddin.

The Delhi Government on Friday announced more containment zones in the capital to contain the spread of COVID-19.
