Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan have announced a country-wide movement called ‘Swaraj Abhiyaan.’ Anand Kumar, who was expelled from National Executive will head the Swaraj Abhiyaan movement as the National Convenor.

However, the rebel leaders refused to term the new movement as formation of a new party and insisted that they had still not quit Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

We are not quitting AAP. We are carriers of the founding principles of the party. If they want to sack us, let them. Swaraj Abhiyaan is for the purpose of taking forward the founding principles of AAP. A Swaraj Yatra will be carried throughout the country, through which we will tap new energy for alternative politics. Its not a political party at all. In future if we are able to meet the standards and spirit of Swaraj, then this can be given a shape of a political party.
— Yogendra Yadav, AAP Leader

A 100-member steering committee was also announced, which will assist movements in different parts of the country and undertake training for alternate politics.

In an apparent jibe at Arvind Kejriwal, Yadav said that the new organisation will function in a democratic manner and not indulge personality or cult oriented politics and also reflect the diversity of gender, region and other groups. A helpline number was also launched by the group.

Yogendra Yadav, Prashant Bhushan, Anand Kumar, Christina Samy, Rakesh Sinha, Vishal Sharma Lathe and Pankaj Pushkar, AAP MLA from Timarpur are also a part of the movement ‘Swaraj Abhiyaan’.
