Indian Railways Recruitment: 4,500 Vacancies for Retired Employees

A retired employee under the ambit of the present re-engagement scheme is eligible to apply for the jobs.

In a recent notification released by the Northern Railways, over 4,500 jobs have been announced for retired railway employees.

Any retired railway employee, within the age of 62, who falls under the ambit of the present re-engagement scheme valid upto 14 September 2018, is eligible to apply for the jobs. The only other requirement for the candidate is the desire and fitness to work on a daily remuneration basis.

The vacancies are available for the posts of Senior Section Engineer, Junior Engineer, Welder Blacksmith, and Trackman. According to the notification, maximum vacancies are there for the post of a trackman.

‘The present scheme of re-engagement of retired employees is up to 14 September 2018, unless extended further by Railway Board. Those re-engaged during this period shall continue up to the last day of the month in which he attains the age of 62 years, ie, following the same system as that of normal retirement. All the re-engaged staff will be discharged from engagement immediately after the availability of a suitable replacement,’ read the notification.
