Noida Police Officer, 3 Journalists Arrested for Extortion

The officer and the journalists have been accused of extorting Rs 8 lakh.

Three journalists and a police officer have been arrested after being caught red-handed in Noida while extorting money from a call centre owner in the name of removing his name from an FIR, ANI reported.

Station House Officer (SHO) Manoj Pant, of Noida Sector 20 police station, was arrested following suspension from duty. Another accused, Inspector Jaiveer Singh, is reported to be absconding.

The officer and the journalists were caught extorting a sum Rs 8 lakh. A pistol 0.32 bore was recovered from one of the arrested journalists.

The three journalists have been identified as Sushil Pandit, Udit Goyal and Raman Thakur, SSP Vaibhav Krishna told ANI.
