New Okhla Industrial Development Authority, popularly known as Noida turned 40 today. Noida Chairman and CEO Rama Raman said plans are underway to make it a smart city.
In 1976 Noida was formed for the development of an integrated industrial township, to which many of Delhi’s industrial units were expected to shift.
Noida contributes heavily to the revenues of Uttar Pradesh, it is also one of the most pampered districts in the state. The area has seen unprecedented industrial growth and a real estate boom. Noida is also the hub of India’s broadcast news industry.
Lying at the intersection of rural and a rapidly urbanizing India, Noida is in fact a microcosm of India in the 21st century.
