Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Standing Committee Chairman Yashwant Jadhav claimed that the roads of Mumbai have no potholes whatsoever, according to an India Today report.

The Shiv Sena corportator reportedly said that he travels the roads of Mumbai every day and has yet to encounter a pothole.

“There is not a single pothole in Mumbai. You show me one single pothole. I travel every day on Mumbai city roads. I don’t see potholes. If there is any, it could be due to metro construction, but I can assure you there is not a single pothole.”
Yashwant Jadhav, chairman of the BMC Standing Committee

He added that if anyone does spot a pothole, it will be fixed within two hours. He reportedly refused to elaborate.

Jadhav’s comments are bizarre and concerning, especially since potholes are a major problem in the city; several people have lost their lives in pothole-related incidents and many more have been injured.

On Friday, 6 September, a 47-year-old auto driver died in after his auto hit a pothole and overturned.
