After Christian Michel, the alleged middleman in the AgustaWestland chopper deal, was extradited to India on Tuesday, 4 December, his lawyer Rosemary Patrizi, said that there was no evidence against him.

Speaking to news channel CNN-News18, Patrizi said, “Back in Milan, we had five degrees of proceedings (in the investigation) and we found no evidence. India was also a part of the proceedings and could’ve submitted any evidence, but there isn’t any. No one could find anything against him.”

She further asserted that Michel will explain the same in the Indian court.

Michel was brought to New Delhi onboard an Aviation Research Centre plane of the Research & Analysis Wing (RAW) at around 10:45 pm from Dubai. The operation was reportedly overseen by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval himself and was coordinated by interim CBI Director M Nageswar Rao.

On being questioned about naming the people whom Michel allegedly “lobbied” with, Patrzi said, “Nothing has been proven and no country, not India, not Switzerland, not Italy has proven it.”

Alluding to the last conversation that she had with Michel before he was extradited, Patrzi said that she will come to India as soon as there is a local lawyer.

“We have to show and prove that he is innocent. As we have been doing this since the beginning,” Patrizi added.
