The Delhi Police launched an on-ground probe into Sunanda Pushkar’s death on Friday, beginning at the Leela Palace hotel in Delhi where she was found dead in 2014. The probe was prompted by the High Court enquiring into the pace of the investigation.

While issuing an ultimatum to the Delhi police regarding its probe into Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s wife Sunanda Pushkar's death on Wednesday, the High Court in the capital said, “If you have anything new, then come within two weeks and if you can't then we will look into it.”

The police department, on its part, told the HC that there is no delay in the probe because of them. They said that the technical investigation was not totally in their hands because AIIMS and some foreign agencies were also involved.

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, who filed a plea requesting for a CBI inquiry in the case, said if investigating agencies conclude that death is due to poison then it doesn't matter what type of poison it was.

He further submitted that forensic investigation by USA FBI and other agencies are just delaying the probe.
