NITI Aayog to Now Be Open to Private Sector Experts
Presently, the highest ranks are reserved for bureaucrats and officers from civil services.
NITI Aayog will now be open to private sector experts as well, reported Times of India. The government think tank has opened its doors at all levels, including at the secretary rank.
The new policy will be a departure from the past, as officers will now be in direct competition with applicants from the private sector or academic institutions.
Presently, the highest ranks are reserved for bureaucrats and officers from civil services.
In the past too, NITI Aayog has attempted to get members of the private sector, but those entries have been limited to junior and middle levels.
The employment will be on a contractual basis for five years, extendable to seven years and the salary will be competitive, according to Times of India.
The selection process will include a departmental selection committee, headed by a member-in-charge in the think tank. CEO Amitabh Kant will also sit in the committee along with three other external experts.
The final selection will be based on a personal interaction with the NITI Aayog vice-chairman and a clearance from the Appointments Committee of Cabinet will also be required.
