Nirbhaya Rapist’s Face on Poll Awareness Poster in Punjab

The Election Commission is facing flack after it put up the picture of Nirbhaya rape case convict on its poll awareness poster in Punjab.
The photo of Mukesh, one of those convicted in the Nirbhaya rape case of December 2012, features alongside celebrities like singer-actor Gurdas Mann and Olympian Abhinav Bindra, in a campaign poster which has been reportedly been put up at the District Election Office in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur.
A minister in the Punjab cabinet, Shyam Arora, while speaking to the media, said that a probe will be conducted. “It must be a case of mistaken identity. It isn't written that he is the Nirbhaya rape convict, so could be a case of mistaken identity, we will find out,” he told the media.
