Two women in Pune were assaulted by their neighbour for bringing stray puppies inside their housing society.

The suspect, 43-year-old Milind Kale, has been arrested. Sejal Saraf, who is in her early twenties, and her mother Sonali saw the two abandoned puppies on the street. They brought the puppies into their housing society to feed them. Kale opposed this saying they will cause a nuisance, reported Hindustan Times.

Kale was arrested under sections 325 (causing grievous hurt), 354 (outraging modesty of woman), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.

When the women refused to leave the puppies out on the street, Kale allegedly assaulted them. Both the mother and daughter were injured in the assault. The CCTV camera in the housing society captured the incident.

When we saw the two puppies wandering on the street, searching for food, we brought them home and fed them biscuits. Kale opposed this and started assaulting us.

Sejal works with several animal activists in the city. According to Inspector Radhika Phadke from Kothrud police station, the suspect is unemployed while his wife is an income tax officer.

He was later remanded to police custody till Tuesday.
