A delegation of members of the National Commission for Minorities to Mewat has confirmed the incident of two murders and gangrape of two women on 24-25 August, post its trip to the village on 22 September.

The incident had garnered attention also because of the alleged involvement of gau Rakshaks in the crime. This had irked the Muslim community, threatening communal harmony in the area.

A group of four to five robbers had allegedly murdered a couple and raped a minor girl and her married cousin. They had also taken all the valuables including the family’s motorbike with them.

The police was alerted to the situation when one of the victims managed to flee somehow. The victim’s statement, which was recorded in haste, also mentioned that the perpetrators were gau rakshaks who had raised suspicion over the victims’ consuming beef.
