NDA Govt Gives Priority to Health Sector, Affordable Care: PM Modi

PM Narendra Modi on Sunday, 27 January laid the foundation stone of AIIMS (All India Institutes of Medical Sciences) Madurai. He also inaugurated the super-speciality blocks at medical colleges in Thanjavur and Tirunelveli.

Modi said that the AIIMS at Madurai would be constructed at a cost of more than Rs 1,200 crore and would benefit the entire population of Tamil Nadu.

Speaking at the event in Madurai, PM Modi said that the NDA government is giving great priority to the health sector so that everyone is healthy and the health care is affordable. He said that the initiative Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana, supported the upgradation of government medical colleges across India. Keeping this in mind, he also said that he was happy to inaugurate the super speciality hospitals in Madurai, Thanjavur and Tirunelveli.

He also said that the launch of Ayushman Bharat is a big step and a carefully thought out approach to achieve universal healthcare for India and holistically address health issues. PM Modi said that 1.5 lakh health and wellness centres are being set up to provide comprehensive primary care and preventive health services.

Talking about the Pradhan Mantri Aarog Yojana, Modi said that it provides financial protection upto Rs 5 lacs per family per year. Modi said that he was happy to state that 1.57 crore persons of Tamil Nadu are covered under this scheme.

PM Modi complimented the Tamil Nadu government for implementing the Centre’s health programmes.
