PM Modi and PM Abe Leave For Delhi

The two Prime ministers are on their way t Delhi after an eventful day.

Today, the two signed deals in order to enhance the bilateral relation between Japan and India.

PM Modi Turns Host

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is hosting a banquet dinner for Japanese PM Shinzo Abe in his constituency, Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh (UP).

The Chief Minister of UP, Akhilesh Yadav, and Governor of UP, Ram Naik, are also present at the government-funded gala.

The “pure veg” menu, as pointed out by Ministry of External Affairs’ Spokesperson Vikas Swarup, is happening with cultural art performances.

Japanese PM Shinzo Abe Pays Respect to River Ganga

The Japanese Prime Minister, accompanied by Prime Minister Modi, is paying his respects to the river Ganga in Varanasi, PM Modi’s constituency.

Prime Minister Modi has visited Japan in August-September 2014. Besides the bilateral deals signed in India, the visit was similar to PM Abe’s visit to India.

Maruti cars, manufactured in Varanasi, will be exported to Japan, according to the joint statement issued by the two PMs.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have reached Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.

Varanasi is PM Modi’s constituency. The two are expected to attend the Ganga Aarti at Dasaswamedh Ghat in Varanasi.

Narendra Modi Receives Shinzo Abe

Japan’s PM Shinzo Abe is here to burnish, as he says the “most important bilateral relationship” in the world. Here is a list of all that’s on the agenda:

  • Slated for discussion is a reported $15 billion agreement for a ‘Shinkansen’ bullet train connecting the economically dynamic cities of Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
  • The pair may also discuss building defence ties and a long-mooted civil nuclear deal that would allow Japan to export its nuclear plant technologies to India.
  • Abe will meet with Indian business leaders, foreign minister Sushma Swaraj and President Pranab Mukherjee.
  • He will head to Varanasi, Modi’s Parliamentary constituency, on Saturday.
  • Both leaders will address a joint press statement at the end of Abe’s visit.
  • Abe will also inaugurate the Japan-India Innovation Seminar.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has arrived in New Delhi for a three-day visit on Friday. Abe is here to attend the ninth annual India-Japan summit and will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Modi. The two heads of state have much in common. Both run two of the most important economies in the world, were elected on a platform of kickstarting economic reforms in Japan and India and have to contend with territorial disputes with China, the dominant regional power.
