#MeToo: Assam Top Cop Accused of Sexual Harassment By Colleague
A woman police officer has accused a top cop in Assam of sexual harassment in 2012.
A police officer has accused her senior, a top cop in Assam, of sexual harassment in 2012, amid the #MeToo storm that has gripped India.
Leena Doley, in a Facebook post on Sunday, 4 November, accused Mukesh Agrawal, ADGP (L&O) of Assam, of sexually harassing her in 2012, when she was working with him.
“In March 2012, one of my seniors, Mukesh Agrawal offered to take me on a holiday with him (without telling my husband) for the efficient work I had done. I, of course, refused and took to the natural course of justice. I had no intention of taking a holiday with him and I said so to my organisation’s boss – the DGP, Assam,” Doley said in her Facebook post.
I had filed a written complaint against Mukesh, but I haven’t received any justice till date, she claimed.
Doley said that her case was cited as “misunderstanding” and dismissed, even though “the perpetrator himself had admitted to the facts”.
According to her post, Leena’s husband committed suicide six months after she submitted the complaint, but the enquiry procedures had not started till then.
“After my experience, I am sure that no one else would come out with their stories in the government departments,” she said in her post.
