In a major development in the Ayodhya Ram temple issue, the Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf board has proposed that the Ram temple be built in Ayodhya and the mosque in Lucknow. Shia Waqf Board chairman Syed Waseem Rizvi said that the decision has been taken after discussions with all stakeholders.

Earlier, the Shia Waqf Board had proposed to the apex court that a temple can be built in Ayodhya and the mosque be located nearby in a Muslim-dominated area.

After the mediation by spiritual guru Sri Sri ravi Shankar proved to be futile, Rizvi will be approaching the Supreme Court with Mahanta Dharamdas and Mahanta Sureshdas in Ayodhya.

The apex court will commence the final hearing of the long-standing matter from 5 December, a day before the 25th anniversary of the demolition of the medieval-era structure.
