The father, Arabindo De and son, Partho were found living with the skeletons of daughter/sister and two dogs for past six months, even ‘feeding’ and ‘playing music’ for them.

The father allegedly committed suicide by burning himself inside the bathroom. A suicide note was found in the other room saying none was responsible for his death.

The situation emerged when the police went into the house after reports of the father’s suicide. The son is now in asylum.

Partho covered windows and doors of the apartment with thick cloth, and even blocked small holes on window frames probably to stop the smell of the decomposed bodies from going out.

Debjani, the elder sister died six months ago as she was depressed after the death of the pet dogs last year and had stopped eating.

Partho, a B Tech graduate had quit his job in a top I-T firm in 2007 and had been staying with his family in their apartment since then.

The De’s had no maid and communicated with no one, even though Partho’s uncle stayed in the next house. The security guard used to bring them food thrice a day and was paid money for it.
– the ACP said

The senior De’s death also appeared unusual as the fire was confined only to the bathroom, which was bolted from inside. There was no kerosene or any medium to aid the burning. Arabindo’s diary may help police in revealing more into this case.
