A man allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai, a senior police official said on Tuesday.

According to PTI, the police said that the incident took place around 9 pm.

The man is yet to be identified, but he appears to be in his late thirties, the official said.

"The victim's body was fished out from the sea and sent for post-mortem. The deceased is yet to be identified and nobody has come forward to claim the body so far," the official from Worli police station said.

Police are probing what led the victim to take the extreme step, he said.

A case of accidental death has been registered and further investigation is on.

According to an HT report, the police have registered a case of accidental death.

“The man took a taxi from Haji Ali around 9 pm. The taxi driver told us he didn’t speak to him through the journey. He asked him to stop the vehicle at the sea link, saying he wanted to relieve himself. The taxi driver refused, but the man fought with him and got him to stop,” said the officer, according to HT.
