The Bombay High Court admitted an appeal, on Wednesday, filed by Col Purohit in Malegaon blast case against the special trial court rejecting his bail plea.

The HC then asked the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to file an affidavit countering Col Purohit’s plea.

The agency had filed a supplementary chargesheet in the blast case in May, recommending dropping of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) charges against the 10 people named in the case.

A serving army officer at the time, Col Purohit was arrested in November 2008, for being the brain behind the conspiracy of the Malegaon blast and one who had made the bombs for the blast.
