ABVP Holds ‘Save DU March’ Amidst Chants of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’

Security Beefed Up Ahead of ABVP March
RSS’ youth wing the Akhil Bharatiya Vidya Parishad (ABVP) will hold a “Save DU March” from Arts Faculty at 12 pm on Thursday.
The motive behind the march according to their Facebook page is “to join hands against the anti-national elements that try to hinder the peaceful atmosphere of our university” and against those “who talk about breaking the integrity of the country”.
The march comes a day after the ABVP staged a protest outside the Delhi Police headquarters demanding that a chargesheet be filed in last year's sedition case against three JNU students – Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya – for raising anti-India slogans.
The ABVP also seems to be in damage control mode after it suspended two of its members for their act of “indiscipline” on Wednesday. They had allegedly attacked a group of AISA supporters outside SGTB Khalsa college on 28 February after the anti-ABVP march had ended.
They even filed a complaint at Maurice Nagar Police Station against those who harassed 20-year-old DU student Gurmehar Kaur on social media. Kaur was threatened after initiating a campaign against ABVP after its supporters objected to a seminar at Ramjas College where JNU students Umar Khalid and Shehla Rashid were invited to speak.
