Mnangagwa Wins Zimbabwe Election

Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa, a former ally of Robert Mugabe, narrowly won the country's landmark election, in an outcome set to fuel fraud allegations as security forces patrolled the streets to prevent protests.

Mnangagwa won 50.8 percent of the vote, ahead of Nelson Chamisa of the opposition MDC party on 44.3 percent, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) said.

Gangster Injured After Encounter With Delhi Police

The criminal reportedly was injured with a bullet during the encounter and has now been shifted to a hospital, reported ANI.

2 Men Lunched in Rajasthjan, Andhra Pradesh

Two men were lynched by angry mobs, in two separate incidents, in Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan.

In the first incident, a 52-year-old man was tied to a tree and thrashed by villagers in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district, for allegedly “misbehaving” with women, on Tuesday, 31 July. The man later succumbed to his injuries.

In Rajasthan’s Jodhpur, a 30-year-old staffer of a gas agency, was lynched by a mob for entering a woman’s house with, what they claimed, “bad intentions”. However, his father said that he had gone there on the basis of a gas complaint.

Cops Beaten Inside Police Station in Nellore

A group of locals reportedly attacked the Rapur police station in Nellore district on Wednesday, 1 August, night and beat up the police officers, after they took a local into police custody for drinking and driving, reported ANI.

Four cops were injured, including a sub-inspector and a constable, who received head injuries. Four people have been taken into custody.

4 Family Members Found Buried Under House Compound

Four members of the same family were found buried in a pit in their house compound in Kerala’s Idukki district, on Wednesday, 1 August. The police have recovered a hammer and a knife from the house. Investigations into the mysterious deaths are still underway, ANI reported.

6 Burglars Caught Dancing on CCTV Camera, Arrested

A gang of six burglars who were caught dancing on CCTV camera footage before committing robbery in north Delhi's Lahori Gate area have been arrested, police said on Wednesday, 1 August.

PTI reports that the act was caught in a CCTV camera installed in the lane where a burglar apparently indulged in an impromptu victory dance after other members of the gang successfully broke into multiple shops and stole cash, electronic items etc.
