Trudeau's Criticism of Trump at G7 a Reiteration of Comments Made in Their Meetings: Trudeau's Office

Justin Trudeau's criticism of Donald Trump at a G7 press conference that prompted the US president to reject a joint summit statement was merely a reiteration of comments made in their own meetings, the Canadian premier's office said on Sunday, 10 June.

"We are focused on everything we accomplished here at the #G7 summit," said a statement from his office released on Twitter.

"The Prime Minister said nothing he hasn't said before - both in public, and in private conversations with the President,” said the office.

Argentine Trawler Goes Missing with Crew of Nine on Board

An Argentine-flagged fishing trawler went missing today with a crew of nine aboard after sending a distress signal, reported PTI.

Searchers located a body in the area the boat went missing but it was not immediately clear if it was one of the missing crew.

The 28-meter trawler Rigel sounded its distress signal off Chubut province's coast, 200 kilometres east of the city of Trelew.

Two navy ships and a plane were combing the area where a life jacket from the boat was found; other ships in the area also were asked to try to help find the missing crew.

Knife Attack on Japan Bullet Train Leaves 1 Dead, 2 Hurt

A knife attack on a Japanese bullet express train near Tokyo left one passenger dead and two others injured, police said on Sunday, 10 June, as they arrested a suspect who was on top of a man lying unconscious.

Police said they apprehended Ichiro Kojima, 22, after the train made an unscheduled stop late Saturday at Odawara station west of Tokyo following an emergency call that there was a knife-wielding man. The Nozomi train was heading to Osaka from Tokyo.

The 38-year-old victim was also stabbed in the neck and was later pronounced dead.

Japanese media reported that Kojima said he made the assaults because he was irritated and felt like attacking anyone.

Police said two female passengers in their 20s were injured in the neck and other parts of their bodies, though their conditions were not life-threatening.

Two Soldiers Injured in Landmine Blast

Two Army personnel were critically injured when they accidentally stepped over a landmine near the LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Sunday, 10 June.

The soldiers were undertaking some construction work in Kanari forward post area in Sabzian sector when one of them accidentally stepped over the landmine on Saturday, causing an explosion, a police official said.  The injured Army personnel have been admitted to a hospital.

Landmines are planted along the LoC to prevent infiltration of terrorists from across the border and sometimes get dislocated due to rains.

First Bond Girl Eunice Gayson Dies at 90

"Dr No" star and first Bond girl, Eunice Gayson passed away at the age of 90. The actor died on 8 June.

Gayson is best known for playing Sylvia Trench, who was part of the now-famous scene where James Bond - then played by Sean Connery - introduces himself for the first time in the film based on the iconic character created by Ian Fleming.

The news of her death was confirmed on her Twitter page.

"We are very sad to learn that our dear Eunice passed away on June 8th. An amazing lady who left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She will be very much missed," the post read.

Till date, Gayson continues to be the only Bond girl to appear in two 007 films - other being "From Russia with Love".

Kim Jong-Un Arrives in Singapore for Historic Trump Summit

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un arrived in Singapore on Sunday, 10 June for an unprecedented summit with Donald Trump, an attempt to address the last festering legacy of the Cold War, with the US president calling it a "one time shot" at peace.

Pyongyang's nuclear arsenal - which has seen it subjected to several sets of UN Security Council sanctions and threatened with military action by the Trump administration - will top the agenda.

Kim was due to meet Singaporean President Lee Hsien Loong later on Sunday, the city-state's foreign ministry said, while Trump was flying from Canada on board Air Force One after leaving the G7 summit early.

Venkaiah Naidu Undergoes Cataract Surgery

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday, 10 June underwent a successful cataract surgery at the city based L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI).

The Vice President underwent a surgery in his right eye.

"Dr Pravin Krishna Vaddavalli and his team conducted the surgery and the Vice President was discharged thereafter," an official release said.

Naidu has been advised complete rest for three days. As a precaution, visitors have been advised not to visit him during this period, it said.
