Saudi authorities have detained three royal family members including two senior princes, the US media reported Friday, signalling the powerful crown prince is further tightening his grip on power.
Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, a brother of King Salman, and the monarch's nephew Prince Mohammed bin Nayef were taken from their homes early Friday by royal guards after being accused of treason, the Wall Street Journal reported citing unnamed sources.
The New York Times also reported the detentions, adding that Prince Nayef's younger brother Prince Nawaf bin Nayef had also been detained.

The Election Commission has recognised the merger of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
In its order issued on Friday, following the merger, JVM(P) has ceased to exist as a separate political party in Jharkhand. Hence, it is removed from the list of political parties maintained by the commission.
The JVM(P) was till now a recognised state party of Jharkhand.
The order said its election symbol, "comb", would remain frozen till further orders.

Three members of a family, including a five-year-old girl, were charred to death when their house caught fire in the Khanyar locality here, police said on Saturday.
A fire broke out in a house at Sheeshgari Mohalla in Khanyar on Friday night, a police official said.
The wooden house belonging to Javaid Ahmad Hakak was gutted in the fire, he added.
Three members of the family -- Hakak, his wife Sobia and their five-year-old daughter Hafsa -- were killed in the incident, the official said.

Statues of Gautam Buddha and B R Ambedkar were damaged by a group of people in Rasoolabad village, police said on Saturday. The incident took place on Thursday night and the vandals also severely beat up locals who raised objections, police said.
Inspector incharge Anil Kumar said named First Information Report has been lodged against eight people and investigations are on.
"The situation in the village is under control," Sub-Divisional Magistrate A K Gond said.

The CBI on Saturday brought Sunny Kalra, an accused in a Rs-10 crore bank loan fraud case, to the country from Muscat in Oman, after his deportation on the basis of an Interpol Red Corner Notice issued on the request of the agency in 2016, officials said.
It is alleged that Kalra, the director of White Tiger Steels Private Limited, took a loan of Rs 10 crore from the Punjab National Bank (PNB), but did not repay it.

The Union Home Ministry on Saturday confirmed the suspension of Andhra Pradesh's former intelligence chief AB Venkateswara Rao and directed the state government to issue a chargesheet against the Director General of Police-rank officer by 7 April.
On 8 February, the state government placed Rao, a 1989-batch IPS officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, under suspension based on a report by DGP (Head of Police Force) Gautam Sawang alleging "serious misconduct" in the procurement of security equipment.
