West Bengal: Six Rohingyas Arrested at the Indo-Nepal Border

Six Rohingyas were arrested by the Border Interaction Team of 41 Bn, SSB at Panitanki in Indo-Nepal border. They were produced before the Siliguri Court today. Among them two were sent to correctional home while the other four were given police custody.

Hyderabad: Medical Negligence at NIMS, Scissor Left in Patient's Abdomen During Surgery

A man filed a complaint against doctors of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) for leaving a scissor in his wife's abdomen during surgery.

Two doctors have been booked for alleged medical negligence. The case was registered against them on various charges, including causing hurt by an act of endangering life or personal safety of others, they said.

NIMS Director K Manohar told PTI that a three member team would conduct an inquiry into the incident.

He said, “the patient complained of pain in her abdomen. She had undergone a hernia surgery on 2 November, 2018. Today, an artery forcep was found in her abdomen after tests. The medical team removed it after an operation. She is stable now. The internal committee will investigate it”

Andhra Pradesh: DRI Seizes 865 Kg of Cannabis

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Visakhapatnam Regional Unit seized 865 kg of Cannabis from a truck near Nathayyapalem in Gajuwaka, on 9 February.

The contraband was found concealed under banana stalks in the truck. A case has been registered and two accused have been arrested. The probe is on for further details.

Swine Flu Outbreak: Health Ministry Sends 2 Teams to Gujarat, Punjab

In view of rising cases of swine flu and deaths due to the disease in Gujarat and Punjab, the Union Health Ministry has sent two teams to assess the situation and assist the states in strengthening their response mechanism to contain the ailment.

Fifty-four deaths and 1,187 cases were reported in Gujarat till February 7, while 30 deaths and 301 cases were reported from Punjab, according to data by the Health Ministry.
