US actor Burt Reynolds, best known for his roles in "Deliverance" and "Boogie Nights," died on Thursday, 6 September, his publicist announced.

Death Toll Rises to Three in Majerhat Flyover Collapse

Another body was recovered on Thursday from the debris of the collapsed Majerhat bridge in south Kolkata, taking the toll in the mishap to three, reported PTI quoting a police official.

The body was identified as that of Goutam Mondal (45), a labourer from Murshidabad district who was missing along with another labourer Pranab Dey since the accident on Tuesday, he said.

Ambulance in Kerala Catches Fire, Patient Dead

An ambulance in front of Champakulam Government Hospital in Kerala’s Alappuzha area caught fire 6 September, ANI reported.

The patient inside the ambulance who was being transported from Champakulam Hospital to Alappuzha Medical College died in the fire accident.

Others inside the ambulance, which includes a nurse and the driver survived with burn injuries. Cause of the fire is unknown, the report added.

Light Tremors Felt in J&K

A low intensity earthquake measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale was felt in Jammu and Kashmir disaster management official said. No casualty or damage was reported.

The tremors were felt at 8.34 a.m. at a depth of five kilometres under the earth's surface, he said. The epicentre was in the state.

Earthquake Hits Himachal Pradesh's Chamba District

An earthquake of 3.4 magnitude struck Chamba district in Himachal Paradesh on the night of 5 September, ANI reported. No reports on death or damage have been surfaced.

Trust for Families of Martyred Approved by Finance Ministry

The Ministry of Finance on Thursday, 6 September gave approval for Bharat Ke Veer Trust, said Home Minister Rajnath Singh in a tweet.

Bharat Ke Veer Trust was created by Ministry of Home Affairs in order to provide assistance to the families of martyred Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel.

It was formed with seven Trustees headed by the Union Home Secretary under 80 (G), which in effect means that all contributions to the Trust will be exempted under the Income Tax.

North and South Korea to Hold Meeting on 18 September

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in will hold their three-day third summit from September 18 in Pyongyang, Seoul said on Thursday, after their envoy met the North Korean leader, IANS reported.

South Korea's National Security Office Director Chung Eui-yong, who led the special delegation to Pyongyang on Wednesday, told this to the media here on Thursday.

Petrol & Diesel Prices Continue to Rise

Petrol and diesel prices in Delhi rose by 20 and 24 paise. The price of petrol and diesel in Delhi are Rs 79.51 per litre & Rs 71.55 per litre, respectively. While in Mumbai, the petrol and diesel prices are Rs 86.91 per litre & Rs 75.96 per litre, respectively, ANI reported.
