Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in the last two days conducted searches at 26 locations including premises and study centres of an official of NIOS (National Institute of Open School) and a private person, in six states, Madhya Pradesh, Harayana, Odisha, New Delhi, Assam & Sikkim.

Hard disk, computers, answer sheet, fees payment and seat planning of examination hall recovered by CBI during search.

CBI had registered case against unknown person of NIOS on 23 July on the basis of complaint of HRD Ministry (CVO of Ministry) in malpractices of class 10 and 12 exam in last year.

Uttar Pradesh: Four People Convicted for Beating Woman to Death in Shamli

A local court convicted Wednesday four people over the death of a woman who was beaten up for refusing to pay Rs 51,000 to a group of 'kinners' at her son's wedding in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli district.

The four accused include two transgender people Anjali alias Chandni and Hina and two men identified as Joni and Yusuf. According to the prosecution, Kamla (55), wife of Sahendra, was beaten to death by the group for not fulfilling their demand on her son's wedding at Simbhalka village in Shamli district on August 11, 2012.

Senior Woman Maoist Leader Arrested in Telangana

The Telangana police Wednesday claimed to have thwarted attempts by the banned CPI(Maoist) to carry out attacks on political leaders ahead of the 7 December Assembly elections in the state with the arrest of a top leader of the proscribed outfit.

P Rupa, alias Sujatha, a divisional committee secretary who was allegedly involved in several offences in various districts of Telangana, was arrested Tuesday during a vehicle checking drive in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, police said.

Assam: 200 Agitating Nurses Held, Released Later

Around 200 agitating nurses were arrested from two state-run medical college and hospitals of Assam on Wednesday, the third day of their strike, only to be released later, officials said.

The nurses under the banner of All Assam Nurses' Association (AANA) were on strike in two hospitals since Monday to press for their demands including alleged pay anomalies.

The authorities imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC in the premises of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) on Wednesday morning, official sources said.
