Fuel Price Continues to Soar, Petrol at Rs 81/Litre in Delhi

Petrol prices continued to soar in Delhi and Mumbai on 13 September.

In Delhi, the price of petrol increased by Rs 0.13/litre, to stand at Rs 81.00/litre, while diesel by Rs 0.11 and now remains at Rs 73.08/litre, ANI reported.

Petrol in Mumbai was priced at Rs 88.39/litre (increase by Rs 0.13/litre) and diesel at Rs 77.58/litre (increase by Rs 0.11/litre) in Mumbai, respectively.

Two Forest Guards Shot at in MP's Gwalior

Two forest guards were shot at by members of a ‘stone mining mafia’ in Gwalior's Tighra police station limits late on Wednesday, 12 September, ANI reported

Both the guards have been admitted to the hospital, and a police investigation has started, the news agency added.

Pakistan SC Allows Jamaat-ud-Dawa to Do Charity Work

Pakistan's Supreme Court on Wednesday, 12 September, rejected an appeal by the federal government against an interim order of the Lahore High Court which allowed Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed's Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) and Falah-i-Insaniyat Foundation (FIF) charities to continue their social work.

One person died and one was injured after unknown assailants shot at them in Begusarai's Singhoul on Thursday, 13 September, ANI reported.

20 Dead As Hill Collapses on Suden's Darfur Village

At least 20 people have lost their lives in Sudan's war-torn Darfur region, after a hill collapsed onto their village following heavy rain, PTI reported on Wednesday quoting a rebel group.

Several people are still feared to be buried after rocks crashed down onto their houses in the mountainous Jebel Marra region of Darfur on September 7, the group said.

Gunman Kills Five, Self in California's Bakersfield

A gunman in California shot dead five people, including his wife, before turning the gun on himself as a sheriff's deputy closed in on him, AP reported.

Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood told AP that the shootings occurred at a business and a home in Bakersfield, about 90 miles north of Los Angeles.

Delhi HC Grants Bail to an Accused in J&K Terror Funding Case

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday granted bail to Kashmiri businessman Zahoor Watali, one of the accused in J&K terror funding case, ANI reported.

Watali would have to furnish a personal bail bond of Rs 2 lakh rupees along with his his passport. The businessman has been lodged in Tihar jail since his arrest in August last year, the news agency added.

Militants Open Fire at Guard in J&K's Jhajjar Kotli, Search On

A search operation continued for the second day in Jhajjar Kotli after terrorists opened fire at a forest guard on Wednesday, 12 September, and fled from the spot, ANI reported. The area has been cordoned off, ANI added.

Bhopal police on Thursday arrested a guard of a private girl's hostel in Bhopal's MP Nagar for allegedly molesting a woman and issuing threats to her father, ANI reported.

Kerala Nun Rape Case Hearing Adjourned to 24 September

The Kerala High Court on Thursday heard three petitions seeking proper investigation of rape case against Bishop Franco Mulakkal, Live Law reported. The next hearing of the case has been posted to 24 September.

The nun had accused Jalandhar Bishop Franco of raping and having unnatural sex with her multiple times between 2014 and 2016.

SC Issues Notice to States over Road Accident Compensation

The Supreme Court today, while hearing a petition seeking proper compensation to road accident victims, directed all the states to issue the necessary notification within 12 weeks to allow the sale of uninsured vehicles to compensate the said victims, ANI reported.

2 Terrorists Killed in Encounter with Security Forces in Sopore

Two terrorists have been killed in an encounter with security forces in Sopore’s Baramulla district of Kashmir, ANI reported.

According to the police, the security forces cordoned off the area earlier in the morning upon receiving a tip-off about the presence of militants.

Educational institutes and mobile internet services have been suspended in Sopore.

Former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh Thursday said he has applied to withdraw the petition filed in NCLT against elder brother Malvinder and ex-Religare chief Sunil Godhwani.

Shivinder had alleged that collective and ongoing actions of his elder brother and Godhwani led to a systemic undermining of the interests of companies and their shareholders.

ATS Arrests Terrorist in UP

Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Thursday arrested a member of terrorist organisation, Hizbul Mujahideen from Kanpur, ANI reported.

The terrorist had planned an attack during the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration, ANI reported.

“During questioning he told us that he had gone for training to Kashmir in April 2017. He is of Indian nationality and is educated,” Director General of Police, OP Singh told ANI.

N. Korea 'Willing to Denuclearise', Says S. Korean President

North Korea is "willing to denuclearise" and the US is prepared to end hostile relations, South Korean president Moon Jae-in said Thursday as he struck an upbeat tone ahead of his third meeting with Kim Jong Un next week.

The summit will be the third between the leaders of North and South Korea this year and comes as talks between Washington and Pyongyang over dismantling the North's nuclear arsenal have stalled.

Pakistan Pakistani Envoy in Uk Summoned for ‘Indecent’ Behaviour by FM Qureshi

Pakistan’s high commissioner in the United Kingdom was summoned to the Foreign Office on Thursday after the foreign minister took notice of “inappropriate” behaviour by the envoy at an awards show, according to a tweet by PTI mardan.

Pakistani High Commissioner in United Kingdom Sahibzada Ahmed Khan was also asked by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to submit a written explanation of the incident.

Three Cops Suspended For Consuming Liquor At Work

After a video showing policemen drinking during duty went viral, police officials taking action against them on Thursday told ANI that they’ve been suspended.

According to the statement made, the police suspended three cops from Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh after a video in showing them drinking during their duty.

The source of the video is unknown.

President Approves Appointment of Ranjan Gogoi as CJI

President of India, Ramnath Kovind has approved appointment of Justice Ranjan Gogoi as the next Chief Justice of India, ANI reported.

He will assume office on 3 October, 2018 after the retirement of the current Chief Justice, Justice Dipak Misra.

UP Govt Orders Early Release of Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar

Uttar Pradesh Government has ordered early release of Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar alias Ravan from jail, ANI reported. Chandrashekhar was to be released on 1 November.

He was jailed under NSA charges in connection with 2017 Saharanpur caste violence case.

Bihar Govt Announces Relief to Victims of Mob Lynching

Bihar government on Thursday announced an interim relief of Rs 1 lakh to the victims of mob lynching and will give additional 2 lakhs after the investigation is complete, ANI reported.

However, the details are yet to be confirmed.

The matter in this regard will be heard in a fast track court within a time period of six months.

Hail Storm Damages Crops, Apple Orchards in Budgam, Baramulla

Hail Storm wreaked havoc in several parts of Central Kashmir’s  Budgam District on Thursday and caused damage to crops, apple orchards, vegetable fields, and walnut trees, Kashmir Life reported.

The hailstorm which continued for at least 15 minutes damaged crops and walnut trees as well, causing huge damage to the farmers and fruit growers.

Goa CM Manohar Parrikar Admitted to Private Clinic

Ailing Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who is being treated for advanced pancreatic cancer, was on Thursday admitted to a private clinic in the beach village of Candolim in North Goa, after he developed fever.

The Chief Minister earlier this month, returned from the US - for the third time in six months - where he was undergoing treatment for this ailment.

BJP's Tribal Wing Seeks Ending Ties With Ally IPFT in Tripura

Signalling growing strain between the coalition partners, Janajati Morcha, the ruling BJP's tribal wing in Tripura, Thursday demanded immediate severing of ties with the Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT).

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state Janajati Morcha president Sanjoy Debbarma said IPFT was creating "chaos" across the state over different issues.
